Where we shoot across Las Vegas
Six locations cover almost every session we book. Each one has a best hour, an access rule and a practical catch worth knowing before you pick.
The Strip
The Bellagio fountains, the Caesars Palace colonnades, the Venetian canals and the Paris Las Vegas street front give you four distinct looks inside one mile. Public sidewalks are open to shoot; interiors, pool decks and casino floors are private property and need approval, which we arrange. The best light is the half hour after sunset, when the sky still reads blue and every sign is lit.
Red Rock Canyon
Twenty minutes west of the Strip, Red Rock Canyon gives you red sandstone, Joshua trees and long desert views. The Scenic Loop is one-way and gated at sunset, so we shoot early morning or the last two hours before closing. Commercial photography requires a BLM permit, and timed-entry reservations apply in peak season — we pull both. Wear shoes you can climb rock in.
Downtown & Fremont Street
Fremont Street, the Neon Museum's outer walls and the murals of the Arts District are the grittier, more saturated side of the city. Everything sits close together and walkable, so a two-hour session covers three or four backdrops without moving the car. Shoot after dark for full neon color, or Sunday morning if you want the streets nearly empty.
Lake Las Vegas
Thirty minutes east, Lake Las Vegas has water, a Mediterranean village, stone bridges and mountains standing behind them — the closest thing to a resort backdrop without leaving the valley. It is a favorite for engagements and full wedding parties. Most of it is private resort land, so we clear access in advance. Late afternoon light on the water is the reason to make the drive.
The dry lake beds and dunes
North of the city, the Nellis dunes and the cracked playa past Apex are wide, empty and cinematic — nothing in the frame but ground and sky. Golden hour here is unmatched for gowns and trains. Bring a second pair of shoes, and know that afternoon wind is either the problem or the shot, depending on the dress.
In studio
For headshots, product work, maternity and anything that has to be weather-proof, we shoot in studio with controlled lighting and seamless backdrops. Sessions run on your schedule instead of the sun's, which matters for corporate teams and newborns. Studio time also pairs well with an outdoor half — one look inside, one look at golden hour.
How booking works
Inquire & hold your date
Call, text or email before you book online. We talk through your date, your location and the coverage it actually needs, then send a quote. A deposit holds the date and the balance is due the day of the shoot. Retainers stay redeemable, and we move a date free of charge when plans change.
The session
We build a shot list and a timeline around the best light for your locations, and send outfit and timing notes ahead of the day. On site we direct as much or as little as you want — posed, candid, or a mix of both. Permits and property access are settled before you arrive.
Delivery
Sneak peeks land within 48 hours. Full galleries follow in one to two weeks, 60 to 90 days for full weddings and two to four weeks for video. Every selected image is professionally retouched and delivered in a private online gallery with high-resolution downloads for a full year.
Las Vegas photography pricing
Every price below is a starting point for the most common version of that session. Final quotes depend on hours, locations, travel and how many photographers your day needs — we put it in writing before you pay anything.
Meet the people behind the lens
Omer Khan has worked as a Las Vegas photographer for over 17 years and more than 2,000 sessions, from Strip elopements to full-day weddings, campus graduations and corporate headshots. Versatile, resourceful, always prepared — a second camera, a second plan and a read on the light. Every shoot is a narrative in itself.
Cheryl runs the logistics of every Las Vegas session — permits, equipment, lighting, timelines and client comfort — so Omer stays fully focused on the frame. She is the reason shoots start on time and finish where they were supposed to.
Las Vegas photography FAQs
How much does a photographer cost in Las Vegas?
Most Las Vegas photographers charge $300 to $800 for a portrait session and $2,000 to $5,000 for full-day wedding coverage. At Deep Focus Photos, portrait and mini sessions start at $375, family sessions at $550, elopements at $750, corporate headshots at $375, and full-day weddings at $3,000.
What is the best time of day for photos in Las Vegas?
Golden hour — the ninety minutes after sunrise and before sunset — is the best time for photos in Las Vegas. Desert light is harsh and contrasty from 10am to 4pm, especially in summer. For Strip and neon work, shoot the thirty minutes after sunset, while the sky still holds color and the signs are lit.
Do you need a permit to shoot photos on the Las Vegas Strip?
You do not need a permit for casual photos on public Las Vegas Strip sidewalks, but a commercial shoot on private casino property needs permission from that property. Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire both require a commercial photography permit. We arrange permits and property approvals for every session we book.
How far in advance should I book a Las Vegas photographer?
Book three to six months ahead for a wedding and one to two months ahead for a portrait session. Peak months fill first — March through May and September through November — along with holiday weekends and graduation season. A deposit is what actually holds your date on the calendar.
What are the best photo locations in Las Vegas?
The best photo locations in Las Vegas are the Strip at Bellagio and Caesars Palace, the Venetian colonnades and canals, Red Rock Canyon, Fremont Street downtown, Lake Las Vegas, and the dry lake beds and dunes north of the city. We match the location to your outfit, your timing and the light you want.
How long does it take to get your photos back?
Sneak peeks arrive within 48 hours of your session. Full galleries follow in one to two weeks for portraits and events, and 60 to 90 days for full weddings. Video projects take two to four weeks. Everything is delivered in a private online gallery with a full year of downloads.
Do you travel outside Las Vegas?
Yes. We travel throughout Nevada, Arizona, Utah and California, and we take destination bookings nationwide. Valley of Fire, Zion, Lake Tahoe and the Southern California coast are all regular requests. Travel beyond sixty miles of Las Vegas adds a mileage fee that we quote up front, before you book.
What should I wear for a photo session in Las Vegas?
Wear solid colors that contrast with your background, skip busy patterns and large logos, and bring one outfit change. Earth tones read best in the desert; bold color and metallics read best against Strip neon. Bring shoes you can walk in, and expect wind at Red Rock and the dunes.
